How to Dry Clean at Home - DIY Dry Cleaning With or Without a Kit - GoodHousekeeping.com

dry.indah.link

Some clothes are easier to care for than others. Most everyday items can be cleaned with a quick wash and dry, however, "dry clean only" and delicate garments require more TLC. While it's always best to leave the dry cleaning and pressing up to the professionals, you may be tempted to skip the extra trip and dry clean at home.

This, of course, begs the question: Can dry cleaning really be done at home? Even though there are a number of ways to remove stains, wrinkles and odors from "dry clean only" clothes (more on that below), there is no way to actually dry clean at home, according to Carolyn Forte, Director of the Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute. Professionals are able to remove stubborn body oils and stains that at-home dry cleaner kits and steaming are unable to. "Dry cleaning at home may delay bringing something to the dry cleaner and give you a few more wears, but it will not totally eliminate the need for it," she explains.

Maybe you have a whole season's worth of clothes to dry clean and don't want to stomach the high price tag. Or maybe you're not a fan of how your clothes smell when you bring them home. Forte offers up a simple solution: Keep searching until you find a dry cleaner that meets your needs or find an alternative (but highly effective) solution like wet cleaning or liquid carbon dioxide cleaning.

How to Refresh "Dry Clean Only" Items at Home

If you want to extend a garment's life between dry cleanings, you have two options: use a dry cleaning kit or take the DIY method.

Dry cleaning kits like Dryel's At-Home Dry Cleaner Starter Kit come with everything you need for a similar dry cleaning experience at home: a stain remover, bag, cleaning clothes and an odor and wrinkle releaser. Here's how to get the most effective refresh:

  1. Treat stains with the stain removing pen and spray high-odor areas with the odor releaser spray.
  2. Stick up to five garments in the bag with the cleaning cloth and tumble in the dryer. The heat and tumbling of the dryer activates the cleaning cloth, releasing trapped odors and freshening the fabric.
  3. Remove the clothes promptly and get rid of any remaining wrinkles or odors with the spray.

No kit, no problem: Follow these steps to spruce up your "dry clean only" items:

  1. Remove stains from garments. Just to be safe, test the stain remover on a hidden spot of the fabric and look for water spotting or color loss. Fibers like silk and rayon may be damaged by at-home stain removal products.
  2. Freshen fabrics, remove wrinkles and get rid of unwanted odors with a garment steamer like Seal star Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Garment Steamer or a spray like Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Always test the products on a hidden spot of the fabric first.
  3. Some fabrics, like knits and other lightweight fabrics, can also be de-wrinkled in the dryer. Stick your items in a wash bag and add a wet washcloth, hand towel or ice cubes to dryer to speed up the process.

Remember: This is only a placeholder until your next visit to the dry cleaner. There's no other way to really make your garments look and smell like new.

Showers For Southwest Alabama Today; Dry Elsewhere - alabamawx.com

dry.indah.link

ON THE MAPS: A cold front is pushing into South Alabama early this morning, and we have a few showers and storms on radar over the southwest counties of the state. Showers will remain possible there through the day, but elsewhere the sky becomes partly to mostly sunny as dry air takes over. The high this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 70s; the average high for April 30 at Birmingham is 78.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Tomorrow will be a dry day statewide; with a mostly sunny sky look for a high around 80 degrees. Then, clouds will increase Sunday as moisture levels begin to rise. An organized batch of rain and storms over Mississippi will move into West Alabama late Sunday afternoon, and rain and storms are likely for all of the state Sunday night.

SPC has defined a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms for area near the Mississippi border Sunday night, with a “marginal risk” as far east as Moulton, Vance, Pine Hill, and Gulf Shores.

The main threat with the storms Sunday night will come from strong gusty winds and small hail. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out, but isn’t likely. The rain could be heavy at times.

NEXT WEEK: A moist, unstable airmass will stay in place through much of the week. We will need to mention a chance of showers and thunderstorms on a daily basis Monday through Thursday. Along the way, the rain could be heavy at times, and a few round of strong, possibly severe storms are possible. But, defining the specific windows for the heavier activity is almost impossible to do at this point. Guidance from WPC suggests rain amounts for much of Alabama will be in the 3-5 inch range over the next seven days.

Drier air returns to the state Thursday night, and Friday looks like a dry, pleasant day. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1924: A significant tornado outbreak occurred from Alabama to Virginia on the 29 through the 30th. 26 tornadoes were of F2 intensity or greater. A total of 111 people were killed, and over 1,100 injured. An estimated F4 tornado tore through Steedman and Horrell Hill, SC. This tornado killed 55 people.

ON THIS DATE IN 1953: An F4 tornado 300 yards in width leveled homes on the north side of Warner-Robins Georgia, and barracks on the south side of the Warner-Robins Air Force Base. 19 people were killed and were 300 injured. Estimated damage was $15 million.

‘This is our life now:’ Warnings issued as hot, dry weather brings dangerous fire conditions to Southern California - KTLA Los Angeles

dry.indah.link

April hasn’t even ended yet but warnings are being issued for dangerous fire conditions resulting from Southern California’s dry and hot weather.

“It sounds clichĂ© to say that fire season is year-round but it truly is now,” Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Robert Welsbie said.

Gusty north-northeast winds along with temperatures in the mid 80s to mid 90s for many areas and minimum humidities between 8 and 15% will bring an increased potential for brush fires, according to the National Weather Service.

The elevated fire conditions will remain in place through Saturday, a warning issued by the Weather Service stated.

Residents were reminded to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated and leave a defensible space around homes.

Firefighters have been busy this week with brush fires in Castaic and Thousand Oaks.

The North Fire sparked in Castaic Wednesday and scorched an estimated 640 acres before fire crews stopped its forward progress. CalFire re-estimated the size of the fire to 552 acres Friday morning.

The smaller Country Fire started Thursday afternoon and burned through 28 acres in Thousand Oaks.

Both fires threatened nearby homes and prompted temporary evacuations.

“This is our life now. It’s sad,” said Jane Gibson, who had to evacuate her home due to the Country Fire.

The dangerous fire weather also comes as much of California is once again experiencing drought conditions.

The snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains is less than half of normal while most of the state is well below their normal precipitation amounts.

Dry weather likely to continue as drought continues to spread, but cool May could help - AG Week

dry.indah.link

WDAY Meteorologist John Wheeler said the driest areas, especially in North Dakota, simply did not receive enough moisture in an April that followed a dry fall and winter. Soil moisture remains critically low in many parts of the region.

Last week, the Biden-Harris Administration launched a drought relief working group to address the urgency of the water crisis throughout the west. That was followed up this week by North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring reactivating the Drought Hotline and interactive hay map for his state.

First activated in 2017, the hotline and map are available for ranchers affected by the drought.

“Ranchers who need hay, or those with hay to sell or with pasture or hayland to rent should call us at 701-425-8454,” Goehring said in a statment. “We are also appealing to individuals who are available to move hay to contact the hotline.”

The interactive hay map is available at www.nd.gov/ndda. Users may click on the icons to retrieve information about available hay, pasture and hayland in their area.

While Wheeler says dry conditions are likely to continue, the temperatures also are supposed to be cool, which could help reduce evaporation. But time is of the essence when it comes to soil moisture.

"If we don't pick up some rain in May, the summer could be a pretty rough one in terms of drought over the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest," he said.

Extreme drought conditions now cover over 80% of North Dakota, extending from the western side of the state to central Pembina County in the northeast corner, down to central McIntosh county in south-central North Dakota.

Drought conditions did not change significantly in the High Plains regions which consist of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming and Colorado or in the Midwest region which includes Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

The U.S. Drought Monitor released on April 29, 2021, showed the spreading drought across both North Dakota. (U.S. Drought Monitor)

The U.S. Drought Monitor released on April 29, 2021, showed the spreading drought across both North Dakota. (U.S. Drought Monitor)

Here is a state-by-state look at this week’s drought monitor:

Iowa: Over 25% of the area in central Iowa went from no drought to abnormally dry this week. In total, 54.92% of Iowa in categorized as abnormally dry, up from 28.13% last week. Nearly 60% of the state wasn’t in any drought category last week, but just 25.51% is this week. Severe drought conditions was unchanged from last week and still sits at 7.62%. Moderate drought conditions increased from 5.01% to 11.95%

Minnesota: Minnesota’s drought conditions are relatively unchanged from last week. Just 0.78% is in severe drought, unchanged from last week. Moderate drought increased nearly four points to 14.14%, while abnormally dry conditions decreased slightly to 22%. The state has 63.09% of land not experiencing drought conditions, which is down from 67.44% last week.

Montana: Other than a small increase in extreme drought, Montana’s drought conditions were relatively unchanged from last week as well. The state has 14.25% of land considered to be in extreme drought, which is up from 10.91% last week. Severe drought consists of 17.12%, while 32.08% is under a moderate drought; 25.61% is abnormally dry with just 10.94% of the state not experiencing any drought conditions.

Nebraska: Nebraska drought conditions did not any much change over the past week, with the severe drought percentage stayed at 7%, moderate drought at 16.41% and abnormally dry conditions at 38.62%.

North Dakota: More than three-quarters of the state of North Dakota is in the extreme drought category at 82.65%, up from 75.85% last week. Severe drought came in at 10.34%, which was a decrease from 17.14%. Moderate drought conditions were unchanged at 4.85% as were abnormally dry conditions at 2.16%. The entire state is currently experiencing drought conditions.

South Dakota: South Dakota is still experiencing intense drought conditions, but conditions improved slightly since last week. The state has 19.42% of land in extreme drought, the same as last week. But severe drought decreased from 16.54% to 15.62% and moderate drought decreased from 36.72% to 29.28%. The abnormally dry category increased slightly, from 22.3% to 28.83%, but the amount of the state not considered to be in any drought category increased from 5.02% to 6.85%.

Wisconsin: Wisconsin took a big jump in the moderate drought category this week, increasing from 0.74% last week to 22.67% this week. Abnormally dry conditions decreased, however, going from 36.01% last week to 28.81% this week. Currently, 48.51% of the state is not experiencing drought conditions in Wisconsin. Overall, drought conditions in the state are mild relative to neighboring states in the High Plains region.

Showers And A Few Strong Storms Tonight; Dry Tomorrow - alabamawx.com

dry.indah.link

RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is rain-free this afternoon; a batch of rain and a few thunderstorms moved across the Tennessee Valley over far North Alabama earlier in the day. The sky is mostly cloudy with temperatures generally in the upper 70s and low 80s.

A cold front will push a band of showers and thunderstorms into North Alabama this evening, a few of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and small hail, but the overall threat is low. SPC maintains a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for Alabama north of a line from Linden to Clanton to Heflin.

The main window for the heavier storms will come from about 6:00 until midnight… showers will weaken as they drift into the southern half of the state after midnight.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Tomorrow will be a dry day for most of the state with a good supply of sunshine… the exception is the southwest corner where a few scattered showers are possible. The high tomorrow will be in the upper 70s. Saturday promises to be a very nice day with ample sunshine along with a high around 80 degrees.

Moist air returns Sunday, and we will bring in a chance of showers and thunderstorms by afternoon. We are forecasting a high Sunday in the 75-80 degree range.

NEXT WEEK: The weather looks unsettled Monday through Thursday; we will have some risk of showers and storms on a daily basis. Higher rain chances will come during the afternoon and evening hours, and a few strong, possibly severe thunderstorms could develop along the way. Too early to define any specific window for the heavier storms…. drier air will arrive at the end of the week on Friday. Rain amounts during the week will be in the 2-3 inch range; See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1910: The temperature at Kansas City MO soared to 95 degrees to establish a record for April. Four days earlier the afternoon high in Kansas City was 44 degrees following a record cold morning low of 34 degrees.

ON THIS DATE IN 1991: Southeast Bangladesh was devastated by a tropical cyclone with sustained winds of approximately 155 mph in the during the late night hours. A 20-foot storm surge inundated the offshore islands south of Chittagong and pushed water from the Bay of Bengal inland for miles. Best estimated put the loss of life from this cyclone between 135,000 and 145,000 people.

Dealing with dry, dehydrated skin? Don’t despair. There’s a skin care routine for that!

Maybe your skin feels tight, scaly, flaky, or a combination of all three.

We’ve got you covered.

The following skin care routine and recommendations for dry skin can leave your skin happy, hydrated, and glowing.

Whether it’s a tried-and-true skin care regimen, how often you wash your hair, or the cosmetics you’re curious about, beauty is personal.

That’s why we rely on a diverse group of writers, educators, and other experts to share their tips on everything from the way product application varies to the best sheet mask for your individual needs.

We only recommend something we genuinely love, so if you see a shop link to a specific product or brand, know that it’s been thoroughly researched by our team.

Healthline

According to a 2020 study, a consistent skin care regimen can lead to measurable changes in dry skin.

Dry skin can be uncomfortable and is usually marked by scaling, itching, and cracking. While dry skin commonly affects the hands, arms, and legs, it can affect any part of the body.

According to Shawnda Dorantes, RN, BSN, and co-owner of Beauty Lounge Medical Spa, there are several causes of dry skin. These include:

  • environment
  • hard water
  • genetics
  • excessive washing
  • exposure to irritants
  • medical conditions, like hypothyroidism or diabetes

These factors can be mostly classified into two categories, says medical aesthetician Olivia Sparks.

“Dry skin causes can be classified as internal or external, and the easiest to address are the external factors,” says Sparks.

These include factors like:

  • humidity
  • bathing habits
  • use of harsh soaps

According to Sparks, dry skin, flakiness, and cracked lips may be due to a vitamin B deficiency.

A deficiency in B vitamins “will also make you more sensitive to certain skin care products and sunlight,” she says.

Talk with your healthcare professional about taking a vitamin B complex supplement.

While the causes may differ, anyone can practice a skin routine for dry skin that will be to their benefit.

“As skin dries, it shrinks and causes cracks, which can get deep, painful, and even start to bleed. Cracks allow germs and bacteria to enter the body, which can potentially lead to a skin infection,” says Melanie Speed, RN, BSN, CAN, and owner of Flawless Aesthetics.

When it comes to a skin care routine for dry skin, keep the five steps listed below in mind:

  1. Cleanse with a hydrating cleanser that doesn’t disrupt the outer skin layer.
  2. Tone with an alcohol-free toner to restore skin pH.
  3. Target specific skin concerns with a serum.
  4. Moisturize with a nourishing, noncomedogenic moisturizer to lock in hydration.
  5. Protect from harmful UV rays to prevent sun damage.

Cleanse

Your first step is to choose a hydrating cleanser. You want a cleanser to remove dirt and oil without causing a disruption to the outer skin layer.

A good ingredient to look for is hyaluronic acid, as in Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser or CeraVe’s Hydrating Facial Cleanser.

Tone

Many toners use alcohol as a main ingredient, which dries out the skin. Look for an alcohol-free toner with active ingredients that restore the pH levels of your skin.

A great option is Alaffia Everyday Coconut Face Toner.

Target

This step helps to target specific skin concerns. Focus on hydration with a pure hyaluronic acid serum such as The Ordinary Hylauronic Acid 2% + B5.

Moisturize

A good moisturizer will lock in the benefits of a serum. Use a moisturizer daily that’s specifically designed for the face.

According to Sparks, “facial moisturizer needs to be really nourishing and hydrating but avoid products that might clog your pores.” It’s a safe bet to look for “noncomedogenic” on the label.

Kavita Mariwalla, FAAD and board certified dermatologist, recommends SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Face Cream.

Protect

Daily sunscreen use prevents harmful UV rays from damaging the skin.

“I recommend wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from harsh UV rays regardless of your skin type. For sunscreen, I like ISDIN Eryfotona and La Roche-Posay Anthelios,” says Mariwalla.

Lower cost options include Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen or Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Face-Moisturizing Sunscreen.

Believe it or not, acne can happen even when you have dry skin. A few tips can help you clear up blemishes and hydrate at the same time:

  • avoid heavy products like oil-based lotions, moisturizers, and sunscreens
  • only cleanse the face once a day
  • avoid exfoliating, which can dry out the skin
  • go easy on drying ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid

Remember that alcohol, dyes, and fragrances may be irritating to sensitive skin. It’s best to look for noncomedogenic products, like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel with hyaluronic acid.

A skin care routine for your body will be similar to your face routine. The main difference is the products you’ll use for each.

The first step is cleansing. Choose a product that includes hydrating ingredients like Sebamed’s Gentle Hydrating Cleanser or CeraVe’s Hydrating Cleanser Bar.

Then move on to moisture, ideally applying while the skin is still damp.

Look for creams and ointments that include one or more of the following:

You may find that you benefit from an ointment or cream over a lotion because they contain more oil and less water.

AmLactin Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion is my favorite body [moisturizer] since it has 15% lactic acid,” says Mariwalla. You can also try Ceramedx Ultra Moisturizing Cream.

Surprise! It’s the same.

A dry skin routine for men is the same as for anyone else. While some men may have different preferences in scents and packaging, all skin needs the same kind of care.

There are a few things to keep in mind when you have dry skin that you may not have thought of.

Don’t overdo the caffeine

“Try not to overdo the caffeine intake. Too much caffeine and not enough water will dry you out in a heartbeat,” explains Sparks.

Go easy on the hot water

Hot showers or baths can strip the skin of natural oils. This can cause irritation, dryness, and sometimes even damage the skin.

Instead of a steamy shower or bath, keep it just warm enough to soothe and relax without drying your skin out.

Research shows that an optimum bath temperature for healthy adults is somewhere between 104 to 109°F (40 to 43°C). If you’re pregnant, an older adult, or you have a health condition, lower temperatures are recommended. Talk with your doctor.

Avoid harsh products

Some products may make dry skin worse, like:

Don’t skip the sunscreen

“Protect your skin from sunburn and skin damage, which will leave skin tight, dry, and looking aged,” says Dorantes.

Don’t under-moisturize

Lotion collectors, rejoice! You’d have to work really hard to overdo it on the moisturizer.

According to Mariwalla, moisturizing twice daily is ideal.

“Don’t apply moisturizer just once a day. Make sure you apply it twice, and one of those times should be on damp skin,” she says.

While dry skin is mostly harmless, there’s always a possibility that it could be caused by a condition like eczema or psoriasis. Talk with your doctor if you suspect an underlying skin condition.

Additionally, Mariwalla explains that a broken skin barrier can lead to infection. It’s important to protect your skin health to prevent this.

Speed warns to wear gloves to protect your hands when working with chemicals or lots of water.

If you have dry skin, following a daily skin care routine is the best way to find relief. By cleansing, toning, treating, and moisturizing your skin, you’re taking steps toward a healthy, happy dermis.

Consult with a dermatologist for the ideal routine for you.

Argentina dry weather to propel stalled soybean harvest - AG Week

dry.indah.link

BUENOS AIRES — Argentina's stalled soy harvest is set for a boost from a period of expected dry weather, meteorologists and grains analysts said, after recent heavy rains in key farming areas had slowed down farmers gathering in their crops.

The expected weeks of dry weather should help allay fears of further losses to the important soy harvest in the world's largest exporter of processed soy meal and oil, which relies heavily on the grain for much-needed foreign currency.

"There will be good weather for at least a week, it may be up to ten days. The rhythm (of the soybean harvest) will rebuild under these conditions," said GermĂĄn Heinzenknecht, meteorologist at the Applied Climatology Consultant (CCA).

Argentina, the world's top supplier of processed soy, is set to produce 43 million metric tons of the oilseed in the 2020-21 harvest, the Buenos Aires grains exchange estimates, which was knocked earlier in the season due the effects of a drought.

In recent weeks, however, the focus of attention has been on the significant delay in soybean harvesting due to heavy rains in important agricultural areas, which set off alarms regarding potential production losses.

Buenos Aires grains exchange data shows Argentina's soybean harvest being 18.5% complete, some 38 percentage points behind where it was at the same time a year earlier.

Delays in the grain harvest due to excess humidity - which make it difficult for farmers to work on the fields - are a threat since there is a risk that the soybeans will sprout in the pods, which translates into a loss of harvestable area.

Andrés Paterniti, an analyst at the Buenos Aires exchange, said he expected 10-14 days without significant rains, which meant "work in the fields should be intensified."

Paterniti added the delay was also in part because Argentine producers had waited to plant their crops due to the drought that affected the country in the first half of 2020, which may affect the productivity of these plants.

Writer Craig Childs On The Beauty Of Dry Places - KUER 90.1

dry.indah.link

In his latest book, the writer and adventurer Craig Childs writes that he dreams of canyons and was born to deserts — deserts ruled by a god of drought who leaves them dry on purpose.

Childs’ book, Virga and Bone, is a collection of essays about the essential elements of deserts, stuff like bones, balanced rocks and dry rain. In the desert, he notes, everything is stripped down to its barest nature. But if you give yourself over to that dry landscape, it’ll wear you down, too — which can actually be a good thing. Childs joins us Friday at 11 a.m. MT for a conversation about how deserts can shape us and the richness we can find in these spare places.

It’s really dry in Michigan; Here are the skimpy numbers - MLive.com

dry.indah.link

Much of Michigan is in a drought condition. It’s pretty easy to see why. Here are the total precipitation numbers from the beginning of the year.

Before I give you the numbers, remember total precipitation is melted snow and rain. The lack of snow this past winter has a lot to do with our current very dry status.

The map below shows the percentage below normal the precipitation has been in Michigan since January 1, 2021.

percent

Precipitation anomaly in percent of normal precipitation since January 1, 2021

Parts of Michigan’s Thumb and the U.P. near Sault Ste. Marie are at between 25 percent and 50 percent of normal. Most of Michigan has had about half of normal rainfall for the year so far.

The map below puts into perspective the amount of inches below normal.

precip depart

Precipitation departure from normal since January 1, 2021

The yellow shaded areas are between two inches and four inches below normal on 2021 precipitation.

Watch the farmers as they run their planters across Michigan’s farm fields. It’s a mini dust storm as the equipment kicks up dust. The map below shows the top few inches of soil has very little moisture in it. Part of the eastern Thumb has only two to five percent of typical soil moisture.

soil moisture

Soil moisture deficit in the top three inches of soil.

Here are the exact values on total precipitation this year, and the departure from normal.

City Precipitation Year-To-Date Departure From Normal
Traverse City 4.68″ -4.02″
Saginaw 4.21″ -3.86″
Muskegon 5.40″ -3.42″
Kalamazoo 4.91″ -3.37″
Grand Rapids 6.46″ -2.90″
Detroit 6.20″ -2.76″
Jackson 4.53″ -2.58″
Houghton Lake 4.30″ -2.58″
Ann Arbor 5.69″ -2.45″
Alpena 4.66″ -2.41″
Lansing 5.92″ -2.09″
Flint 5.90″ -1.81″
Marquette 8.93″ -1.47″
Sault Ste. Marie 7.22″ -0.50″

If you grow anything, whether it’s a home vegetable garden, or hundreds of acres of row crops, you are going to need normal to above normal rainfall this growing season. There isn’t much subsoil moisture to sustain a crop if we start missing June and July rains.

When was Chicago’s last really dry May? - WGN-TV

dry.indah.link

Dear Tom,
You recently wrote that recent Mays have been very wet. When was our last really dry May?
—Rachel Crystal Lake
Dear Rachel,
Defying all odds, the city’s last three Mays have broken the month’s all-time rainfall record dating back to 1871. At the start of 2018, the city’s wettest May occurred in 1945 when 7.59 inches was recorded. That was surpassed in May 2018 with 8.21 inches, May 2019 with 8.25 inches, and again in 2020 with 9.51 inches. The city’s last two dry Mays were in 2007 with 1.80 inches of rain, and in 2005 when 1.99 inches fell. The May preceding city’s infamous 1988 drought summer brought just 1.19 inches of rain, laying the foundation for the hot, dry summer that followed. Chicago’s two driest Mays occurred back in the early 1990s with just 0.30 inches in 1992 and 0.58 inches in 1994.
