CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - After a cool and blustery start to November, seasonal conditions return to start the workweek.

Look for lighter winds by this evening with mostly clear skies continuing overnight. That will lead to overnight lows in the mid 20s. Then on Monday, mostly sunny skies and breezy southwesterly winds help us into the mid 50s, right on average for early November.

Throughout the rest of the week, above-average temperatures look to settle into the region with highs for most of eastern Iowa in the mid to upper 60s Tuesday into next weekend. Things look to stay dry overall though this period with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies overhead.

Our next shot at precipitation holds off until early next week when cooler temperatures look to return as well.

The start of the new month has been a quiet one, and it’s all thanks to a large ridge of high pressure.

With a more southerly component to our winds, we won’t cool down as much tonight. Overnight lows should hold in the low 30s this time around. A few 20s are possible to the north, while we may approach 40 tonight in the SW.

An unseasonably warm air mass takes over as we go into the start of the work and school week. Partly to mostly sunny skies take over, and highs climb into the mid 60s across much of KELOLAND.

We’ll warm up even more on Tuesday, as temperatures inch closer to 70 degrees East River and get over that mark to the west.

A ridge of high pressure over the Four Corners region will assert its influence over the Northern Plains, keeping very warm air in place. Highs through the end of the week will trend nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year.

Highs should climb into the 70s in western KELOLAND late in the week, while we toe that line to the east. Dry weather also holds steady through at least Saturday.

By Sunday, however, things get interesting. A strong cold front will push eastward, sending a surge of cold air into western KELOLAND by the start of the day. Highs out west may not escape the 30s. Depending on the progression of this front, we may be able to squeak into the low 60s toward the I-29 corridor. Keep an eye out for updates on the temperature outlook for Sunday.

We may also see some rain and snow with the progression of this front. Again, precipitation type will be dependent on the progression of this front, with rain more likely the further south and east you go.

Weather will not be a hindrance to voting on Tuesday, for those who haven't yet cast a ballot, or much of anything else this week.

The first day of the week will be windy and cold, with most locations dropping to near or below the freezing mark in the morning and only rising into the 40s. A few pre-dawn flurries may flutter through the some of the higher elevations west of Roanoke, and the high country of West Virginia may get a couple inches in a few spots. 

Tuesday will follow with a cold morning but bounce back to near 60 in the afternoon. And it just steadily gets warmer from there, with lows back in the 40s and highs in the 60s and 70s most of the rest of the week.

We will be under dominant high pressure that will lead to mild, dry and relatively calm weather, become downright warm in the late-week afternoons. And that's likely to continue beyond, into the weekend and next week. 

Cold weather and storminess will be focused in the West for now.  We'll have pleasant, dry days for some hiking, hunting and leaf-raking, whenever work isn't in the way.

If you're not a fan of winter, you get a reprieve after a brief preview early in the week. If you are a fan of winter, this still may not be a bad thing -- early wintry weather in November last year was followed by mild temperatures and very little snow in the winter that followed. Arctic air won't be playing itself out early in November this go-round.

November arrived with cold and blustery conditions. Mid afternoon temperature readings were in the 30s, 10-15 degrees below average for November 1. The west to northwest winds gusted in the 40s to low 50s miles per hour, with a highest gust of 55 mph recorded in Marshfield. The gusty winds produced wind chills in the teens during the morning and 20s through the afternoon.

It will be cold tonight, with lows in the low to mid 20s. The winds will remain breezy this evening, then diminish some tonight, remaining strong enough to generate wind chills in the low to mid teens.

The week ahead will trend much warmer, with little chance of rain. Winds will be breezy at times.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Sunday’s forecast features a beautiful day across the Chattahoochee Valley with low humidity and highs only in the low-70s. A cold front moves through overnight and will knock our highs into the 60s by Monday, and by Tuesday morning we could be seeing lows in the upper-30s. So, if you are planning to go vote on election day morning you will definitely need the jacket handy. After that, we stay dry as we warm back up into the 70s with rain slowly working its way back into the forecast maybe by next weekend. For now, we look fall-like with a whole lot of sunshine around for the work week. Now, Tropical Storm Eta did form overnight, but the good news is that it is going to stay way off to our South and poses no threat to U.S. soil.

Chilly for the trick-or-treating, rain to snow mix happening Sunday

Happy Halloween! Your forecast is looking bone-chilling, but at least there won’t be any wet candy to worry about! Highs today will top off around 50°, and skies will remain partly to mostly sunny through the day. By the time we head into those trick-or-treat hours, temperatures will be in the 40s, so make sure you wear some warm costumes! Overnight lows will fall to around 40° with increasing clouds.

Tomorrow’s forecast is going to be very interesting as we are expecting our first snow of the season. Rain showers will greet us to start off the day, but a cold front will swing through in the afternoon drastically dropping our temperatures from the 40s to the 30s during the day. That cold air is going to transition those rain showers eventually into all snow by the nighttime. Those snow showers will last on into Monday morning. By then, we could have a dusting up to 1″ of snow on the ground. Another thing around tomorrow and Monday is that the winds will be very blustery at about 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph likely. Afterwards, a dry and mild weather pattern settles back in, and we should remain quiet for a few days.
