A quick shower overnight led to a trace of rain for Monday morning. Add that onto the 0.47'' we saw on the south side of Eau Claire this weekend and it doesn't really help our increasing drought conditions.
The United States Drought Monitor shows abnormally dry conditions for Buffalo, Trempealeau and Jackson county. We may see that drought spread into more of western Wisconsin with very little rain in the forecast.
The 6 to 10 day precipitation outlook shows dry conditions lasting through the end of August. We've fallen behind on precipitation now for the summer season and we're only up an inch on the calendar year average.
High pressure will take over to start the week which will keep us dry, sunny and comfortable. We'll pick up a nice breeze from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph as that high pressure center slides further east. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70's to low 80's the first half of the week. Dew points will stay in the 50's until Wednesday.
We'll see temps climb into the mid 80's with a surge of humidity through midweek. The next chance for rain doesn't arrive until the weekend and it looks rather unimpressive to say the least.
