Isolated thunderstorms are expected Wednesday and Thursday in northeastern Colorado and the mountains, but the storms are threatening to be mostly dry with gusty winds and lightning.
Dry weather is expected Friday through Monday, with near record temperatures and “very high fire danger” concerns, according to the National Weather Service.
Smoke from wildfires burning in the state continue to create air quality concerns along the Front Range and in the mountains. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has again issued air quality alerts for Denver and along the Front Range on Wednesday.
In Denver, there’s a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. Cloudy skies will increase during the day and the high temperature will hit 94 degrees, according to the weather service.
On Thursday, there’s a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms in Denver. Skies will be mostly sunny as the high temperature climbs to 95 degrees. Winds could gust to 22 mph. Large hail could fall Thursday afternoon on the extreme Eastern Plains along the state line, the weather service said.
Friday’s weather in Denver will be sunny with a 20% chance of afternoon showers and a sizzling high temperature on 96 degrees.
