Meteorologist April Loveland's First Warning Forecast
Mostly cloudy overnight with a slight chance of a shower. Lows in the low and mid 70s.
Heat will continue to build on Sunday with highs near 90 under a nice mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will feel closer to 100 degrees due to the humidity. High pressure will continue to build in through Tuesday, keeping us mostly rain-free. Warm Sunday night with lows in the mid 70s.
Another hot day to start the work week with highs in the low 90s and heat index values soaring to the triple digits. Expect mostly dry conditions. A few clouds to start the day Tuesday, with clearing as the day progresses. Temperatures will once again soar to the low 90s with heat index values in the triple digits. Summer is still here!
A cold front will move in on Wednesday bringing a little more cloud cover and keeping temperatures a few degrees milder in the upper 80s. A stray shower is not out of the question. More sunshine heading into Thursday with highs near 90. Rain chances will start to creep upward by Friday as a cold front approaches along with some remnant moisture from some tropical systems. Expect highs in the upper 80s.
Tropical Update:
Tropical Storm Laura Tropical Storm Laura producing heavy rains over the Dominican Republic.
Located about 25 miles SE of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Max sustained winds: 50 mph
Moving WNW at 16 mph. On the forecast track, the center of Laura will move across Hispaniola tonight and early Sunday, near or over Cuba Sunday and Monday, and over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico Monday night and Tuesday. No significant changes in strength are forecast during the next 36 to 48 hours while Laura moves near or over Hispaniola and Cuba. Strengthening is forecast once Laura moves into the Gulf of Mexico Monday night and Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles from the center.
Tropical Storm Marco is moving NNW across the southern Gulf of Mexico.
Located about 470 miles SSE of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
Max sustained winds: 65 mph
Marco is forecast to continue moving north-northwestward across the central Gulf of Mexico on Sunday and will approach the northern Gulf Coast on Monday. A gradual turn toward the west with a decrease in forward speed is expected after Marco moves inland on Monday and on Tuesday. Some strengthening is anticipated and Marco is forecast to become a hurricane on Sunday. Marco is expected to be at or near hurricane strength when it approaches the northern Gulf Coast on Monday. Rapid weakening is expected after Marco moves inland. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center.
