Inland storms fade after sunset, warm and dry evening along the coast - WJXT News4JAX

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today was another hot and humid afternoon, topping out in the low to mid 90s. We saw an isolated showers or two fire up in Southern Clay & Putnam counties during the early afternoon hours, as we head through the evening hours we expect a few showers and storms, mainly west of Highway 301 and closer to I-75 to fire up and drift slowly northward. Coastal counties should be dry- which means an extremely slow cool down this evening.

Friday kicks off a wetter weather pattern, but not a washout. We wake up in the muggy mid 70s and warm up into the mid 90s. A round of showers and storms will fire up along I-75 during the early afternoon and trek slowly eastward, arriving in coastal counties during the late afternoon and early evening hours. The storms should push offshore around sunset. The evening will feel more comfortable than the previous several evenings thanks to the cooling effect of the afternoon storms.

Saturday showers move across our area from the west, with a 10am-3pm time frame for South Georgia and a 3pm-7pm time frame for Northeastern Florida. Expect to top out in the low 90s at our warmest part of the day.

It could rain in some locations, like southern and inland counties (Alachua to Putnam-ish areas) overnight on Saturday night into Sunday morning as a stream of showers moves across our area from the Gulf. This will very much be feast or famine- if it rains over your area it will rain for a long period of time and in some cases heavily, otherwise just a few tens of miles away, all will be dry.

Sunday some will wake up to showers (most likely in our Southernmost counties) and we have good chances for pop up showers and storms. Sunday looks a little cloudier and a little wetter, with highs hitting the low 90s.

Hot afternoons in the low 90s followed by widespread thunderstorms stick around through our forecast next week.
