Isolated showers, storms Sunday afternoon; week ahead looks mainly dry - KVUE.com

Isolated showers and storms could provide some beneficial rain through Sunday evening.

AUSTIN, Texas — Most will still contend with hot and dry weather through Sunday afternoon, but a few areas have received some beneficial rainfall and a bit of heat relief thanks to pop up showers and storms.

Severe weather is not expected Sunday, but there have been some reports of small hail earlier in Williamson County, and storms will be capable of heavy rain and lightning through early Sunday evening.

Sunday's storms are just classic heat-of-the-day storms, so as soon as we lose the daytime heating, any lingering activity will begin to fizzle out in the evening.

But until about 8 p.m. or so, we will continue to see isolated activity drifting southward across the area.

Sunday will be our last meaningful rain chance for the next seven days or so as high pressure begins to build again across Texas.

This will mean triple-digit heat and dry weather for most of the upcoming week.

The KVUE Storm Team will continue to monitor the forecast.
