Unsettled weather will return for the work week, with daily chances for showers and storms.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — After a stormy start to the weekend, drier weather is in store for the Midlands for our Sunday.

A cold front is moving through the area this morning, shifting winds out of the north and bringing some drier air into the region.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy through the morning, with some peaks of sunshine by the afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s.

There is a small chance for an isolated shower near I-95 and along the coast, but most people will remain dry for the end of the weekend.

More wet weather is in store for the work week. Another front will move through the area on Monday, bringing the chance for a few afternoon storms.

By midweek, there will be an even greater chance for showers and storms as a series of disturbances moves along an upper level trough.

The chances for rain combined with the upper level pattern will keep temperatures slightly below the average high temperature of 91 degrees.

Looking at the tropics, Tropical Storm Josephine is continuing to move northwest in the Atlantic with winds of 40 mph. The storm will recurve to the northeast at the beginning of the work week and remain out at sea. The storm is also forecast to weaken as it encounters high winds over the ocean.

The last update for now Post-Tropical Kyle was issued at 5 am Sunday morning. The storm will continue moving east over the Atlantic as a low pressure system and is no threat to land.
