Dry, Mild, and Fall-like Conditions Set to Persist - WGEM

dry.indah.link

The current period of dry, mild, and fall-like weather looks to persist in the interim. Upper-level atmospheric flow is once again ushering haze back into the Tri-States, longitudinally from the west to east, as a result of biomass aloft from western wildfires. This may hang around through Sunday afternoon.

It will be unseasonably cool with temperatures falling into the low to mid-40s right around sunrise Sunday morning. A ridge of high pressure anchored to our east over the Great Lakes region, coupled with a lack of moisture from the surface upward, is expected to allow dry conditions to persist through the extended forecast period. This should keep remnant precipitation from Tropical Storm Beta, which is forecast to make landfall on the eastern Texas coast overnight Monday, shunted well to our south more proximal to the Gulf of Mexico. High temperatures will begin to rebound in the low to mid-70s through Tuesday before pushing closer to the 80-degree mark by midweek.

The fall equinox arrives on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at 9:31 A.M. EDT.
