Cloud cover has been stubborn to break up most of our Monday, but we'll start to see some clearing later this evening after sunset. Temperatures will be cool in the mid 50s under partly cloudy skies. Look for mostly clear skies overnight as high pressure builds directly over the Susquehanna Valley. Temperatures will be a little cooler than average with lows in the mid to upper 40s. Some patchy dense fog is possible, especially in the river valleys and mountain valleys. Some patchy dense fog could linger into early Tuesday morning. Skies will be mostly sunny through much of the day as temperatures rise back up above average, topping off in the lower 70s. Wednesday will be warmer and windier. Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 70s ahead of an incoming cold front. Winds could gust at times greater than 30 miles per hour during the afternoon and evening as the cold front crosses the region. A few, spotty showers are possible. It has been quite dry this fall across a large portion of the Susquehanna Valley, so any outdoor burning is not recommended Wednesday because of the potential high winds. Cooler, more seasonable weather returns Thursday and Friday with both days expected to see mostly sunny skies. We'll have to keep an eye on Tropical Storm Delta's track for the weekend. At this time, the remnants of the storm likely stay south of the Susquehanna Valley, but it's going to be a close call. If we see any rain from the storm it would likely be Sunday. The remnants move back out into the Atlantic early next week. We'll likely have high pressure over the region keeping us dry and seasonably cool. Extended forecast:Thursday: Mostly sunny. High: 66.Friday: Mostly sunny. High: 64. Saturday: Partly sunny. High: 72.Sunday: Partly sunny. Delta's remnants in the region. High: 70. Monday: Partly sunny. High: 66.
