BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Wind speeds are on the increase to the northwest this evening as the next surge of cold air impacts the state. Plan on a cold and blustery overnight, with lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. A line of showers had reached our northwest areas, but as expected, most of this rain dissipated. I still can’t rule out a stray shower or two through 10 p.m. We will have a sunny sky returning for Monday, but plan on a chilly day. High temperatures will struggle to reach 60º, with many locations only topping out in the 50s. We may see some fries development in outlying areas Monday night as lows tumble into the middle to upper 30s.
