For the first time in over 80 years, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be legal in Pine Grove Township.
Voters in the township voted overwhelmingly – 1,188 to 451 according to preliminary election results – to change the township’s legal beverage status from “dry” to “wet.”
It has been illegal to sell alcoholic beverages in the municipality since 1935.
“My family has owned and operated Cable Hollow for 48 years, and we have committed ourselves toward creating a quality, family-oriented establishment,” John Bortz told the Times Observer this summer. “We intend to expand on what has gotten us to where we are today by providing a more complete recreational and dining experience.”
The last time a Warren County municipality considered this question was in 2003.
Conewango Township passed the referendum question, opening the door for an expanded footprint for the Warren Commons complex.
