NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Warm and dry weather will headline the forecast over the next few days as a ridge of high pressure will dominate the weather pattern.
Temperatures Monday night and into Tuesday morning should be fairly seasonal to a degree or two above average. We should wake up early Tuesday morning to temperatures in the middle and upper 30s across Greater Nebraska with mainly clear skies.
By Tuesday afternoon, sunshine and warm weather will be on tap across the area. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 70s to near 80°. Some areas - including North Platte - could get near record highs. For North Platte, the record for Tuesday is 81° set back in 1915. Winds will likely turn to the west and southwest at 5 to 15 MPH with some occasional gusts up to 20 or 25 MPH.
The weather will remain warm for the remainder of the week and into the first part of the weekend with highs in the 70s and sunny to mostly sunny skies with dry conditions. By the weekend though, an upper level trough will begin to bring colder temperatures and chances for rain and snow into the forecast by late this weekend and into early next week.
