CHICAGO — Snow is coming to Chicago this week.

Monday will start with clouds but will become increasingly sunnier, according to the National Weather Service. There will be a high temperature of 32 degrees and wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Tuesday will have a chance of snow in the afternoon, with the high temperature hitting just 33 degrees. Snow, freezing rain and sleet will start during the night and last into Wednesday morning.

It’s possible Chicago will get 1-3 inches of snow during the overnight storm, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday morning will see rain in the morning and afternoon, and then there will be another chance for snow after 5 p.m., according to the weather agency. It could get as warm as 40 degrees with wind gusts up to 25 mph.

Thursday — when many people will celebrate New Year’s Eve — will be mostly cloudy but dry, with a high temperature of 33 degrees.

New Year’s Day on Friday will likely see rain and snow, including freezing rain before 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature is expected to be 38 degrees. It could snow again late Friday.
