RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Coming off of the 5th warmest December ever recorded in Downtown Rapid City, the new year is following 2020′s footsteps... The first weekend of 2021 is starting off mild and dry with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. NE Wyoming may see a little bit of snowfall this afternoon, but that weak impulse quickly ends with dry air intruding. Increasing clouds this evening, and breezy west winds 10-15 mph for the Black Hills and Foothills.
We are still dry and mild Sunday, but clouds will increase into the afternoon hours. Winds pickup along with the cloud cover, but a pleasant end to the first weekend of 2021. So when will we see moisture? Good question... Monday we are dry and mild in the upper 40s, but come Tuesday we could see a round of rain and snow depending on surface temperatures Tuesday evening. Another weak disturbance moves through the region and will bring a round of rain/snow for NE Wyoming and the Black Hills. That system quickly moves out, and sunshine returns with more mild temperatures for Wednesday. Temperatures stay above average for next week, but fall back into the 30s by next weekend.
More information on Tuesdays snow thoughts in tomorrows update...
Happy New Year!
