Good morning!
Scattered showers are passing through northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, but should taper off around sunrise. It’s possible you’ll encounter a shower or two between the mid to late morning, but most of the showers should be confined to the Coast Range & Cascades. This afternoon looks like it will be mostly cloudy but mainly dry in the lowlands with high temps around 50 degrees. Something else to note: A High Surf Warning is in effect for the coast. A 22-24 ft. west swell will produce high surf & bring the potential for sneaker waves, especially during the late morning when high tide occurs. Don’t turn your back to the water, as wave run-ups will be possible.
Another weak cold front will push scattered showers back over the region Monday morning. This activity will linger into the afternoon. There could be a few hours of dry time before a batch of steady, moderate to heavy rain moves in. This rain will be linked to a strong atmospheric river, which will bring quite a bit of rain and mild temperatures Monday night through Wednesday morning. Rainfall could be on the order of 3-6” in the higher elevations, while the interior valleys could pick up 1-2 inches. Snow levels will be in the ballpark of 5,000-7,000 feet. Landslides and debris flows will be possible depending on the duration of the heavy rain.
Drier would looks like it will prevail between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, but another round of scattered showers is expected Friday. Temperatures will be running about 5-10 degrees above normal throughout the next week, with highs in the 50s, and overnight lows in the 40s.
Have a great Sunday!
