NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Chances are if you’re eating dry beans, those beans were grown in Nebraska. From pinto beans to Great Northern and all the dry beans in between. Producers and those looking out for them are finding ways to continue their success for 2021. The Nebraska Dry Bean Association is sharing information to producers differently for their 2021 annual meeting and 2021 Dry Edible Bean Day. `
They met via Zoom and discussed University of Nebraska- Lincoln’s research projects along with sharing feedback from their production during 2020. Attendants also discussed how the edible dry bean production is looking for the 2021 year.
There are hundreds of recipes available using dry beans. News 2′s Kaylie Crowe is meeting with Aufdenkamp on Thursday. She will be bringing us a segment on cooking healthy snacks such as black bean brownies. Be sure to stay tuned for these recipes on Thursday.
Dry beans are also good for you. They are nutrient-dense providing protein and vegetable dietary guidelines, zinc, iron, potassium, and folate. They are also high in fiber and low in fat.
