Storm Tracker Forecast: Dry for 6 days but rain on the 7th? - Action News Now

Today has been warm & sunny for most. Clouds have moved in for the afternoon but haven't helped limit warming. Most are above 70 degrees, 10-15 degrees above average. These clouds will stick around for a part of the overnight hours which will help limit cooling, keeping most valley locations in the 40s overnight. It has also been breezy at times but not anywhere close to significant like yesterday where we were seeing gusts of 35 mph.

Tuesday, strong winds retun to our region thanks to an insider-slider system. This low pressure system will swoop south through Eastern Washington & Oregon, into Nevada and Arizona. As it does this, a ridge of high pressure will build and strengthen over California and the Pacific. The ridge of high pressure will keep us sunny but these 2 systems will be so close to each other, the result will be strong north winds and dry, downslope flow.

Wind gusts will be 25-30 mph on Tuesday with highs still warm. Highs will be limited on Wednesday to the mid-60s as the low pressure system gets closer in proximity to our region. This also mean it will be windier with valley wind gusts of 35-40 mph.

Sunshine continues on Thursday and Friday with mild temperatures. Highs will be in the mid-60s with lows in the upper-30s thanks to clear skies.

Saturday will see a return to windy conditions as another inside-slider influences our region. Sunshine remains with highs in the low-60s.

Sunday will warm up again into the upper-60s with sunny skies and dry conditions remaining.

Some weather models are hinting at a pattern change next Monday. Possible showers on Monday with highs back in the upper-50s thanks to a possible deeping low off of the coast that should make landfall Monday. This is still 7 days out so don't jump for joy yet, but its definitely something to watch. Its very likely we could see nothing on Monday and the models are out to lunch. That can sometimes happen. When the atmosphere gets stuck in a pattern, it can be hard to break. I hope it does break. We are sitting less than 50% of average for precipitation, so we desperately need the rain!
