Good morning. We’re tracking rain for later today. Ahead of that, it was a cold and dry start with increasing clouds and a passing flurry. It stays dry through noon, before a widespread rain pushes in by 2-3PM and continues into the evening. Afternoon temperatures in rise to the upper 30s and eventually low 40s in the early evening. Breezy south winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
While most of us will see plain rain, far northwest RI could briefly see some wet snow at the beginning of the precipitation. No accumulation is expected locally, but higher elevations of central and western MA could end up with a couple of inches of wet snow.
The rain ends by 9PM with rainfall totals ranging from 1/4″ inland to 3/4″ near the coast.
Skies will gradually clear overnight with lows eventually cooling to the low 30s by dawn.
Tuesday starts with partly sunny skies, but clouds thicken again and a light rain or snow shower is possible in the afternoon. It will be seasonable with highs in the low to mid 40s.
