ROCKFORD (WREX) — With conditions staying dry over the weekend, big changes to come starting as early as tomorrow. A wintry mix arrives to the Stateline Monday morning, with another chance for showers later in the week.
Breezy Sunday:

Sunday brought more cloud cover as well as breezier conditions. The end of the weekend stayed dry as the winds continue to blow between 15 and 20 miles per hour. Wind gusts are expected to gust closer to 30 miles per hour for the rest of the evening as well as into tomorrow.
Monday will bring similar windy conditions along with the wintry mix. Winds tomorrow will blow closer to 20 miles per hour with gusts as high as 30 miles per hour.
Winter Tease:
For the start of the week, a wintry mix is expected to arrive by Monday morning. This system will begin as a rain and snow mix then begin to transitions to mostly snow as we move through the day tomorrow.
Some areas may see a rain and snow mix throughout the day as we stay above or near freezing. Snow showers will continue into the afternoon. This snow is expected to be heavier and wet, so slushy road conditions are possible. The precipitation may transition back into a rain and snow mix into the evening.

Accumulations are possible with the storm. Most areas will see an inch or two. Areas west of us are under a Winter Weather Advisory such as Jo Daviess county. This advisory includes 2+ inches of snow. Some areas may see over two inches of snow, especially on grassy and elevated surfaces.
Once we head into the late evening, the system will move out of the area as we have a dry Tuesday in store. We will not stay dry for long as there is potential for another wintry mix Wednesday evening into Thursday.
