For the second day in a row and the third time this year, Eau Claire hit a high of 47 degrees. Along with yesterday, today once again has tied the warmest high of the year to date. Highs over the next couple of days will be similar with the warmest are moving in starting Sunday. Eau Claire has been dry recently.
While this young month only has a trace of precipitation that fell on the first this past Monday that caused 1/10" snow, Eau Claire hasn't had more than one quarter inch of precip in four full weeks. February 4th had 0.33" precipitation melted from 4.1" snow.
This dry weather is great for outdoor spring projects like painting, and the dry weather will last into early next week. Of course the alternative is to put off the chores and enjoy this stretch of beautiful early March weather before the pattern changes again.
Eau Claire is just over one third of an inch below average in precipitation since the start of the year, and the winter snowfall is over ten inches below average.
A few clouds will move through tonight along with a chance for fog, but temperatures will be a bit cooler than the past couple of nights. Eau Claire's low this morning was 30, but the next two nights will fall into the low 20s and possibly the upper teens. Minimal wind chill effect is expected.
Plenty of sunshine during the days continues our stretch of highs in the upper forties, though there is a small chance to hit 50 each of the next two days. Fifties are still likely by Sunday and 60s are looking more likely early next week as precipitation chances look to hold off a bit longer, currently looking likely on Wednesday but it's possible the pattern slows even more.
A slower pattern just means we'll have more time with this warm and dry weather pattern before rain returns. Cold air on the back side of next week's low pressure system could bring a changeover to light snow before it ends Thursday morning. Temps still don't look too bad Thursday, but it does look a bit cooler for the following weekend.
