GREENSBORO, N.C. — We've been soaked for months, even years here in the Piedmont. Now, the Triad gets a few days to relax and dry out. Here's what we're tracking.
Dry weather is here right now, and is looking to stick around. Tuesday and Wednesday clocked in two dry afternoons. The WFMY Weather Team now expects an additional 7 dry days to follow.
If that comes true, we'll notch a 9 day stretch of dry weather. That hasn't happened since September 30 - October 9 of 2020 more than five months ago.
It's been an exceptionally wet three years. Since the beginning of 2018, the Triad has recorded over 189 inches of rainfall. For some perspective, that's more than 150% of what Seattle has seen in that time.
The wet weather isn't just annoying, it has taken its toll. We've seen significant flooding on several occasions during our frequent heavy rain events. The muddy and wet conditions also make difficult conditions for farmers and outdoor workers to do their job and be productive.
WEATHER SETUP:
Right now, we're in-between weather systems. The beautiful blue sky is here and will stick around. A new area of high pressure will begin to move our way on Thursday. As it does, the breeze will pick up. Temperatures will warm into the low 60s on our breezy Thursday afternoon.
By Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we're looking at cooler weather. Mornings will be cold, likely in the upper 20s to near 30. The afternoons will warm only slightly, with high temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s, but it should stay dry and mostly sunny.
Early next week, warmer winds will return and start to boost our temperatures significantly. By mid-week temperatures are likely to reach the mid-upper 60s, and possibly near 70.
