NEW YORK CITY - It is early in the month, but already March has done something that we couldn't do in February: It hasn't rained or snowed in more than three days.
It's probably not hard to believe, but February was a very wet and snowy month. It was tough to string together more than just three days of dry weather. With a new month comes a new weather pattern.
It has been a few days now without any precipitation. It began on March 2, and there is no rain or snow in the forecast through March 10. That means this dry streak could go at least nine days, and it very well could go on longer than that.
The last time we had a streak of dry days like this was in January. We had 10 dry days in a row from January 5 to 15. But if we exceed 10 days, this could be the longest dry streak since late summer!
The streak of 2 weeks without rain began September 12 and ended Sept 27 as the fall season began.
So, making it a full two weeks without precipitation in March would be tough to do, but it's certainly possible. This all goes to show that dry streaks have been tough to come by lately.
Enjoy the sunshine while we have it because if history is any indication, we might not see a streak like this for a while.
