Pinpoint Weather: A dry weekend to transition to unsettled weather next week - WFXRtv.com

Generally speaking, we’re looking dry this weekend but as we head into next week, multiple opportunities for rain will enter the forecast.

For Saturday, though, we’re expected a blend of clouds and sunshine over most of the region with highs in the upper 50s in the mountains to the mid-and-upper 60s toward the Piedmont.

Sunday looks fairly similar but we’re likely to drop the temps just a few degrees. Parts of the NRV could see a slight chance for a few passing late-day showers possible but the vast majority of the region will remain dry.

That changes into Monday as showers become likely across the region as the day progresses. The higher elevations of the Alleghany Highlands could actually see a period of light wintry mix during the morning. We’re not looking at anything significant, but we can’t rule out the chance for some sleet or freezing rain possible in some areas. Temperatures will be MUCH COOLER across the region as highs may struggle to get up to the mid 40s.

We’ll keep things unsettled as we get into Tuesday with temperatures in the upper 40s in the mountains to the lower and middle 50s elsewhere.

We could have a few showers lingering into Wednesday, but of all days next week, Wednesday is the day that could be the least wet. Temperatures are looking milder, too, gaining about 10 degrees or so from Tuesday’s highs.

Thursday looks rainy at this time. There could even be a few claps of thunder at times.

Showers could also linger into Friday.

This past week was dry which helped to expand the chances for brush/wildfire risk. With off-and-on showers likely into next week, that will help bring some moisture in to the region which will greatly lessen that risk.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks before you head to bed tonight. SPRING FORWARD one hour and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
