ROCKFORD (WREX) — The first weekend of spring brought lovely conditions to the area. Warm temperatures continue into the early part of the week as rain showers follow, expected by Tuesday morning.
One more dry day:
As we move into the next week, conditions on Monday are expected to stay dry as things change by late Monday into early Tuesday morning. There is a slight chance for a sprinkle early Monday. The remainder of the day will stay dry. Mostly cloudy skies will dominate as temperatures reach the low 60s for the first day of the week.
Monday may also feature slightly breezy conditions. Winds may gust up to 20 miles per hour throughout the day. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s for the night as we stay dry until the overnight hours and early morning.
Rainy Tuesday:
As we head into the over night hours on Monday night, chance for rain begin to increase as the system moves closer to the Stateline.
Rain showers will begin as light rain into Tuesday morning as they become more moderate after the lunch hour. Showers are expected to continue into the afternoon and evening where a chance for thunder is possible.
Rain totals can reach up to a half an inch for most places, some may see slightly over half an inch. We will continue to track what is expected for the rain totals as the system begins to approach our area.
Tuesday will not be a wash out event, however it will be rainy and loomy for a majority of the day. Don't forget to grab your umbrella on your way out the door!
Once these rain showers push out of the area, they will be taking the 60 degree weather with them. Temperatures expected to cool back down to the low to mid 50s for the remainder of the week.
As Wednesday will be a mostly cloudy day, a chance for rain shower returns to the area for Thursday and Friday.
