It looks like a good day to make some plans to get outdoors! High pressure has taken hold of northern California and that is resulting in comfortable but breezy conditions today. Skies are clear for the start of your Friday morning, and we'll have plenty of sunshine today. North winds are much stronger than 24 hours ago and that is resulting in much warmer temperatures in most valley and foothills areas Friday morning, but mountain areas are still very chilly. Valley areas are ranging from the upper 30's to low 50's for the start of the day, while foothill areas are in the 30's to 40's, and mountain areas are starting out in the teens to 20's. We'll stay sunny through the day, and have north winds up to around 15mph. Gusts up to 20 to 25mph are possible. High temperatures will top out in the upper 60's to lower 70's in the valley, in the 50's to mid 60's in the foothills, and in the upper 40's to lower 60's in our mountain areas this afternoon.
Temperatures will likely be a little cooler for the start of your Saturday, but we'll have around average temperatures for your afternoon. Skies will be sunny in the morning, but clouds will start to increase late in the day. High temperatures on Saturday will end up in the mid to high 60's in the valley, and in the 50's to lower 60's in the foothills and mountains. Low pressure approaching the West Coast from the Pacific will bring mostly cloudy skies to northern California late Saturday night, and a very good chance for showers spreading across our region through the day on Sunday. Most areas are expected to stay dry before noon, but areas closer to the coast will likely have some wet weather before than time. Rain and snow will become more widespread on Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Snow levels are currently projected to dip into the 2000' to 3000' range Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Temperatures will also end up several degrees cooler on Sunday, with valley areas dipping back into the upper 40's to upper 50's. Foothill and mountain areas can expect high temperatures in the 40's to lower 50's on Sunday. We'll see similar temperatures on the way for your Monday. Mountain travel impacts will be likely Sunday evening through Monday night. Up to an inch of rain will be possible in the valley from this quick moving system, and our higher peaks could see up to around a foot of snow.
High pressure builds back into northern California on Tuesday, and will keep us dry for Tuesday and most of Wednesday. The timing is still up in the air on when the next wet system will move into northern California next week, with models showing the next wave of moisture moving in between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.
