Good morning. For those looking to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, the luck of the Irish is with us today. It won’t be nearly as chilly as the last few days, with seasonable highs in the upper 40s to near 50. We’ll begin the day with mostly cloudy skies, but brighten up as the day goes on. Winds will be light from the southwest will turn south at 5-10 mph.
It stays dry this evening and tonight with temperatures dropping from the 40s into the mid 30s by dawn under increasing clouds.
WINTER’S LAST HURRAH?
After a very quiet stretch of weather so far this month, we’re tracking a storm system that will bring a period of rain and eventually some snow to our area from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.
Thursday morning starts off dry with mostly cloudy skies. Rain moves in after 2PM and turns steadier by evening. Temperatures will be quite mild, climbing into the 50s Thursday afternoon.
As the storm passes to our south Thursday night and Friday morning, cold air will be drawn southward and the rain will gradually mix with and change to snow from north to south after midnight.
Snow/mix will end by late morning/mid-day on Friday.
A coating to 2″ of snow accumulations are possible on the grass and car tops. Roads will remain mainly wet.
It will be a windy and unseasonably cold day, with highs only in the mid to upper 30s. East-northeast winds will be sustained at 15-20mph with gusts 30-40 mph. Expect clouds to gradually clear to sunshine by late day and evening.
