After all the rain we've seen lately, we've earned a stretch of sunshine.
After partly-cloudy skies to start the day and a chance for rain south of the Triangle, the sun should arrive by Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will also warm up into the low 60s.
It will be a nice afternoon and evening to get outdoors, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said, with highs in the 60s by 1 p.m. and temperatures still in the upper 50s by 7 p.m.
After overnight temperatures drop into the upper 30s, Thursday will be even more of a treat, with a high of 63 degrees in Raleigh. The day will be sunny, breezy and dry.
By Friday and the weekend, highs return to the lower 50s, but conditions stay clear with rain unlikely. While the weekend may cool down, the weather will still be dry and clear, and the second week of Football Friday should be dry.
It might be March 10 or 11 before we see significant rain again, WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood said.
The normal high for early March is 59 degrees, so temperatures are hovering right at, or just under, average.
Looking ahead at the rest of the month, there is some good news for people who like warmer weather. Gardner said there is a 40% chance for warmer-than-normal temperatures for the month of March.
While meteorological spring (used to monitor weather trends and record-keeping) has already arrived, the first official day of spring is March 20.
