Very quiet conditions continue over the next couple of days. High pressure continues slides east across the region, giving us clear skies and calm weather. A dry cold front will be dropping southeast across the region this morning will give us cooler air and a shift in the winds. By late Wednesday morning this front will have pushed through our forecast area, with even drier and somewhat cooler air filtering into the region. A dry pattern will persist across the forecast area Wednesday night and Thursday.
Highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s for areas along the coast. Near record low temperatures remain a good possibility over much of our region Wednesday night with lows forecast to range in the upper 30s to lower 40s along and north of the Interstate 10 corridor to the mid 40s to around 50 degrees along the immediate coast.
Moisture increases Thursday night into Friday as our next storm system starts approaching from the west. We could see some showers, and perhaps a thunderstorm or two by late in the day Friday, but our main concern will be overnight Friday night in Saturday. The environment will become favorable for a few severe storms within the system across inland sections of the area by late Friday night. Right now, there is a Slight Risk, or threat level 2 out of 5 for severe weather according to the Storm Prediction Center. While the heaviest rain is likely to be focused just north of our area, there should be enough moisture to allow a quick 1 to 2 inches of rain, primarily north of the Interstate 10 corridor.
