To be completely real, washing your hair can be such a drag. Thankfully, the beauty Gods have blessed us with one of our favorite products for lazy hair days, dry shampoo. The downside is that not all dry shampoos work for every hair color, that's because, according to cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, they're made with rice powder to help absorb excess oil and debris, which can, in turn, leave white flakes on the hair and scalp.
Luckily, dry shampoo formulas have improved significantly since they first hit the market, and now there are new options for folks with darker hair that are nearly undetectable. "Dry shampoos made with potato starch or [formulas] that have tinted powders, won't leave that white powder on roots," Robinson says.
Some formulas, such as Moraccanoil's Dry Shampoo for Dark Tones, have pigment in the powders so that white residue doesn't show up (these also double as root concealers to camouflage grays or grow out). Others are straight-up invisible, we're looking at you, Drybar Detox Clear, and work to absorb excess oil and dirt.
