ROCKFORD (WREX) — After a very warm and dry weekend, conditions change for the next week. Temperatures stay warm with multiple chances for rain throughout the week.
Staying warm:
This weekend was the warmest weekend we have seen thus far in 2021. Temperatures Saturday were 18 degrees above average. We saw the same trend today with temperatures being over 15 degrees above average.
The next week will bring more 70s to the forecast. As we won't be getting as warm as we did today, temperatures stay in the middle to low 70s for the first half of the week. Temperatures will fall back into the lower 60s for the end of the week.
Sunny conditions dominated this weekend as we stayed dry. Next week will feature more cloud cover and chances for rain.
Gloomy week:
With the dry and sunny conditions coming to an end tonight, next week will bring a change in weather for the Stateline.
There are a few rain chances for the next week. Starting Monday cloud cover is expected to increase for mostly cloudy skies, for a majority of the week as well. Monday and Tuesday feature a slight chance for rain showers and a possible thunderstorm.
The greatest chance for rain comes Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day but mainly into the evening and overnight hours as we move into Thursday.
These showers and storms will not be wash-out events, more off-and-on showers are likely. Keeping your umbrella handy for this week is a good idea as we may see a downpour come into play especially on Wednesday.
Showers on Wednesday and into early Thursday are expected to be more widespread. There remains a slight chance for rain on both Friday and Saturday.
