It’s looking like one of those perfect spring weeks to spend time outside in Massachusetts.
Meteorologists are predicting dry and mild temps in the 50s and 60s through the upcoming week, with above normal temps for early April, especially away from the coast.
“What you see is kind of what you’re going to get for the next week,” National Weather Service meteorologist Kristie Smith said on Sunday as temps neared 60 degrees in the Boston area.
“We’re in a nice spring pattern,” added Smith, who’s based in NWS Boston’s Norton office. “If you want to spend time outside, it should definitely be a good week for that.”
Concerns do remain this week about elevated fire weather potential.
The combo of dry weather, sunshine, low humidity and gusty winds leads to elevated fire danger potential. These conditions may linger into Monday and Tuesday.
It has been “abnormally dry” in some parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island during the last few weeks.
“With things being so dry, if a fire starts it can spread pretty quickly,” Smith said. “Because we won’t see a change in conditions this week, there’s a potential for the special fire weather statements to continue.”
High temps on Monday and Tuesday should range from the mid 50s to near 60 degrees, and then widespread 60s are likely on Wednesday.
The next chance of rain looks like Saturday.
“It doesn’t appear to be a huge rainmaker,” Smith said. “But things can always change in the next week.”
