WATCH: Dry and windy start to the week

Hi everybody, I'm meteorologist Haley Lapointe, Here's an update on your forecast. Get ready for whipping winds today sustained, they'll be up to about 20 MPH out of the northwest, but gusts will easily get to about 30 even 40 MPH As colder air comes down out of the northwest temperatures today up north and in the White Mountains. Only in the 40s, we'll be in the fifties in central and southern New Hampshire, which is below average for this time in april Now, of course, with the gusty winds and just the overall dry conditions, that means it's another day with a high fire danger. Red flag warning has been posted for central and southern New Hampshire. So that puts us in the high fire danger today. That means near critical fire weather conditions and rapidly spreading. What brushfires certainly possible does not help that we haven't had a lot of rain for concord were down almost four inches for the year. So we really need some rainfall to get things a bit more damp and to calm this just dry conditions that's making the brush fires very easily spread across the area. Winds will be helping to transport those fires if they do flare up. So look at these gusts by 10 a.m. A few places gusting close to 40 MPH. That'll be the case all afternoon. And even overnight tonight, the winds are pretty relentless. They'll be a little less certainly gus near 2025 MPH. Finally, during the day on Tuesday, it's a bit more breezy as opposed to these gusty winds. So why is it so windy? Well or between systems? Yesterday we had some rain move through now. High pressure is building in and in between them it's kind of a squeeze play and the wind gets squeezed between it between those systems. Since that means the gust get very strong as we go through the day Today, few clouds to the north. Otherwise we have sunshine central, Southern New Hampshire Tomorrow we'll see a blend of sun and clouds. And then the next chance for some wet weather comes in on Wednesday in particular in the morning and then again in the evening, Some scattered showers as we go through the rest of the work. Week two and temperatures that will be a little cooler will be in the 50s as we get into the second half of the weekend.
