HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Much of the area has remained quiet since severe weather impacted the areas east of the Tri-Cities on Thursday. There are some ongoing showers and thunderstorms in western portions of the Local4 viewing area this morning. So far, there hasn’t been any severe weather. The main area of rain out west will slowly make a push eastward through the day. This will be the most likely chance for rain. Otherwise, some other isolated showers and thunderstorms can’t be ruled out for other parts of the area. Specifically in the Tri-Cities, the best chance for rain and thunderstorms will come between 4pm and 9pm. In Eastern Nebraska, the best chance will come between 7pm and Midnight. Some severe storms are possible, favoring the southern half of Nebraska and into Kansas. Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the biggest threat. High temperatures on Friday will be cooler yet from the lower 70s northwest to the mid 80s southeast.
Later Friday night into Saturday morning, showers and thunderstorms will become weaker and a little more hit-or-miss. Those chances will continue right into the day on Saturday. Severe weather is much more unlikely on Saturday. By sunset Saturday, much of the rain and thunderstorms in the area will diminish, leading to a quiet Saturday night. Low temperatures tonight will drop back into the upper 50s and low to mid 60s. High temperatures tomorrow will mostly be in the mid to upper 70s. Low temperatures Saturday night will be a bit cooler in the mid to upper 50s and lower 60s. Saturday will also be a breezy day with northerly winds of 10 to 20 mph.
Going into next week, there will be chances for rain and thunderstorms each day as temperatures will likely remain below average. The better chances for rain and thunderstorms will be Monday and Wednesday. The lowest chance is on Tuesday. Throughout next week, highs will mostly be between the mid 70s and mid 80s. The coolest days will correspond with the better chances for rain and vice versa. Overnight lows will mostly be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
