Warm and Dry for Father’s Day

How’s the weather looking for your Sunday? Get your latest Maine’s Total Weather video forecast from Meteorologist Jacqueline Thomas.

Thanks for watching. I'm meteorologist Jacqueline thomas. Hope you've enjoyed the weekend so far. Of course we had an active day saturday with some storms across the area. But the good news is for Father's Day. On sunday, we're getting a bright sky and quiet conditions. If you have any outdoor plans with dad, Things are looking really nice. It's gonna be a warm day, temperatures climbing into the 80s on Sunday as we head through our day. It's also gonna stay pleasant because the humidity isn't going to be quite as high in spots as what we saw saturday. And it comes with plenty of sunshine. A closer look at the high temperatures sunday low to mid eighties towards the coast and then even some upper eighties possible as you head inland. So yeah, a warm day. And as we head into monday, those inland spots that reached the upper eighties sunday could even come closer to 90 on monday. So kind of a warm stretch to kick off the beginning of the week. you'll notice the dew point trend sunday. Dewpoints won't be quite as high as saturday, so a little bit more comfortable. But then monday, the dew points creep right back up again into the sixties and that's gonna feel sticky and muggy, especially with the heat that we have continuing into monday. And then do points drop off behind a system as we head through Tuesday and certainly by Wednesday, much more pleasant and comfortable air moves in and by Tuesday we're watching that system as we see a chance for rain, which we need across the area with the drought conditions that we have. We need a good widespread soaking and Tuesday provides an opportunity to at least get some soaking rain with the showers that will have, and part of that may be due two tropical storm claudette or what's left of it. By the time we get to that point, we could tap into some of that tropical moisture and that would enhance the rainfall, which would be a good thing for us with how dry it's been. So, these next few days as we head through sunday, quiet day for Father's Day and then monday a couple of showers start to approach in the evening and Tuesday we see scattered showers developing with some steadier rain possible by Tuesday evening. In part thanks to what's left of this tropical storm that we could end up with, you know, that enhanced rainfall, that'll be something we track as we head into the start of next week. So in the eight day forecast through the rest of the weekend, Father's Day looks really nice on sunday. Of course, it's also the summer solstice summer begins on sunday as well. Monday we still hang on to some 80s and sunshine before some rain Tuesday and then cooler but comfortable conditions as we end out the week
