ROCKFORD (WREX) — A cold front dropped temperatures and humidity by a ton, resulting in more comfortable weather moving forward. We may not see a return of the muggy weather for a while.
Getting comfortable:
The weather pattern goes fairly quiet this week, and keeps temperatures and the humidity level. After Monday's drop in heat and humidity, Tuesday maintains the drier and cooler weather. Tuesday, in fact, may be the warmest day of the week with highs in the middle 80's. Dew points remain steady, so the humidity shouldn't make conditions feel any hotter.
Tuesday may not stay fully dry, as there is a slight chance for scattered showers and storms Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. A weak cold front passes by into Wednesday, and could spark a few scattered showers close to midnight. Most spots end up dry, however, so don't expect a lot of rain or widespread rainfall.
The weather remains partly cloudy Wednesday, with a slight chance for isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. Temperatures hold steady around the middle 80's with low humidity.
Cool end and start:
After the weak midweek cold front, the weather cools a little further and remains fully dry. The sky stays sunny and without rain chances until Sunday. Temperature-wise, conditions barely warm up to 80 degrees Thursday and Friday, which is a few degrees below average this time of year. Many locations stay in the upper 70's. As a result, July ends on a cool note.
The start of August doesn't offer much for change. The weekend warms up a little in the low 80's, then temperatures drop back to the upper 70's by early next week. We may see those upper 70's for the first several days of next week, giving August a cool start. After that, however, above average conditions are likely, bringing August back to typical summer heat.
