Raleigh, N.C. — Spring officially arrives early Saturday morning, but it's not going to feel like spring until the middle of next week.
WRAL Meteorologist Peta Sheerwood says we'll see temperatures just above and around the freezing mark overnight tonight, and wind chills will make it feel even colder.
"It's chilly for us this morning as we see temperatures down into the 30s," Sheerwood said. "Walking the dog this morning? You're going to need those coats!"
We'll warm into the 50s by Saturday afternoon and should stay dry. Tonight will feature temps in the mid 30s.
"We'll stay dry and quiet across our region," Sheerwood said. "Tonight will not be as cold."
Sunday's forecasted high is 62 and Monday will see a high of 65. We could warm up into the 70s by Wednesday, but our chances for rain will go up.
We will see a gradual warming trend through the next several mornings. The morning low Sunday will be 34, but it will increase to 41 Monday, 44 on Tuesday, 49 on Wednesday and 54 on Thursday. The normal low for this time of year is 41.
The average final spring freeze is usually from April 1 to April 10 in the Triangle. The average date of the last hard freeze is anywhere from March 21 to March 31.
