Chilly air continues to push into our region with high pressure from Canada slipping into Northern Minnesota. We should see partial clearing Tuesday night with lows in in the 0s. Winds will be from the north to northwest around 5 mph. Wednesday is expected to bring a mix of sun and clouds along with highs in the upper 10s. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-10 mph.
Lows could fall to the -0s Wednesday night if there isn’t too much cloud cover. Luckily, winds will be fairly light. We expect partly cloudy skies again Thursday with cool highs around 18 degrees, just a few degrees below normal.
The next low pressure system will start approaching from the Plains later Friday causing the clouds to increase. Low temperatures should be around 4 with highs climbing to the lower to mid 20s. There is a small chance of light snow showers late Friday night as a warm front pushes in. We will have a higher chance of occasional light snow throughout the weekend as that system moves through the area. At this time, the accumulations don’t look huge, but certainly a few inches can’t be ruled out, especially Saturday night into Sunday. It will be a bit warmer this weekend as well with highs in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.
There still might be some leftover flurries early Monday and even some lake effect snow showers in the far north. Patches of clearing could develop later in the day. Temperatures will probably stay in the mid 20s for highs.
Next Tuesday looks quiet with some sunshine and highs holding in the mid 20s. There are signs of a potentially stronger storm system crossing our region by February 3rd or 4th, so please stay tuned for updates on that!
